Better than ice cream? 🍦 High Protein Mango Orange Banana Ice Cream
If you love rich, creamy frozen treats but want a wholesome, guilt-free version you can actually scoop, this is the ultimate recipe. Inspired by an incredible orange-mango flavor combination I first tried in Japan, this dessert completely transforms a simple fruit base into a luxurious, scoopable ice cream.

By layering the thick blended base with crunchy sliced almonds and fresh mango pieces before freezing, every single spoonful gives you the perfect balance of smooth creaminess and satisfying crunch. It satisfies your deepest sweet tooth while genuinely feeding your body with 100% natural plant protein and fiber! ☀️✨

Instructions

  1. If you aren't using store-bought frozen fruits, chop your fresh mango, banana, and individual orange segments and freeze them ahead of time until solid.
  2. Add the frozen mango, banana slices, and orange segments to a high-speed blender along with the cashews, coconut milk, plant-based yogurt, and maple syrup. Blend until perfectly thick, creamy, and smooth.
  3. Pour exactly half of your smooth, blended mix into a freezer-safe container. Evenly scatter the 3 tablespoons of sliced almonds and 4 tablespoons of chopped mango over the top.
  4. Pour the remaining half of the blended mix on top to completely fill the container. Cover and place it in the freezer for at least 5–6 hours, or overnight, until completely firm and scoopable.
  5. When ready to serve, scoop into a bowl, drizzle with hot chocolate sauce, and finish with a sprinkle of crushed sliced almonds for the perfect crunch.

💡 Chef’s Notes

💡 Ingredient Substitutions & Tips:
Boost the Protein: You can blend 3–4 tablespoons of hemp seeds right into the base! They completely disappear into the creaminess while adding an extra boost of complete plant protein.

Sweetness: Easily adjust the maple syrup up or down depending on how sweet your frozen fruits are.

Custom Toppings: Feel free to swap or add any toppings of your choice—shredded coconut, chia seeds, or fresh strawberries work beautifully!
