👥 Servings: 3
These Spicy Sesame Tofu Protein Wraps are packed with flavor, protein, and fresh ingredients. Grated extra-firm tofu is cooked until lightly golden and dry, then coated in a savory spicy soy-sriracha sauce with toasted sesame seeds. The tofu filling is wrapped with fresh salad greens, tomato, and a creamy Greek yogurt and hemp heart dip for a satisfying, protein-rich meal. This recipe allows for easy adjustment of seasonings and spice levels to suit your taste, making it perfect for lunch, dinner, or meal prep.
Instructions
- Grate the extra-firm tofu. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the grated tofu and sauté for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the excess moisture cooks off and the tofu starts to look lightly golden and slightly crunchy.
- Add the Karahi Masala or your preferred spice blend, garlic powder, oregano, and onion powder. Continue sautéing for another 2–3 minutes until the tofu becomes dry, flavourful, and lightly crisp around the edges.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, sriracha, ketchup, vinegar, and water. Pour the sauce over the tofu. Add the roasted sesame seeds and mix everything well. Continue cooking until the sauce is absorbed and coats the tofu evenly. Turn off the heat.
- Add Greek yogurt (or any plant-based yogurt), hemp hearts, olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, and salt to a small bowl. Add a little water as needed and mix until creamy.
- Divide the tofu mixture evenly between the three wraps. Top each wrap with fresh mixed salad greens, a generous spoonful of the Greek yogurt and hemp heart dip, and tomato slices. Roll tightly, cut in half, and serve with extra dip.
💡 Chef’s Notes
Tips for Crunchy but Juicy Tofu: Cook the moisture out first by sautéing grated tofu for a few minutes before adding spices or sauce. Don’t add sauce too early; wait until the tofu is dry and lightly golden. Maintain medium to medium-high heat to help moisture evaporate and allow the tofu to develop lightly crisp edges without burning. Use just enough sauce so it’s absorbed by the tofu, giving it plenty of flavor while keeping the filling from becoming wet or soggy. Roasted sesame seeds add a subtle crunch and nutty flavor. Keep the wrap fresh by adding salad greens and tomato after the tofu has cooled slightly. Serving Suggestions: Serve these wraps with extra Greek yogurt and hemp heart dip, a simple cucumber salad, fresh tomato salad, your favorite hot sauce, or pickled onions/vegetables. Make It Your Own: For a vegan version, replace the Greek yogurt with unsweetened plant-based yogurt or vegan mayo. You can also use cumin, coriander, paprika, garam masala, or your favorite seasoning blend instead of Karahi Masala.
