  1. Heat olive oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the yogurt dip by mixing yogurt, black salt, green chili, and chopped onion in a separate bowl.
  3. Serve the chickpea rice hot with the cooling yogurt dip.
  4. Once the cumin seeds crackle, add chopped onion and sauté for 1 minute.
  5. Add turmeric, salt, cumin-coriander powder, and tomato paste. Mix well.
  6. Stir in boiled/canned chickpeas and sauté for 1 minute.
  7. Add rinsed rice, mix, and sauté for 2 minutes.
  8. Add water and butter, then cover the pan and cook on medium-low heat for 10–12 minutes.
