Crispy Vegan Flatbread
🏠 Cuisine: Vegan 👥 Servings: 4
I’ve never seen or made plantains like this before — and I tried it for the first time, and it was a hit! This crispy plantain flatbread is completely vegan, gluten-free, and naturally rich in plant protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Grated green plantains are mixed with simple pantry ingredients, cooked like a flatbread, and finished on high heat for that perfect crunch. No fancy equipment, no fermentation — just simple, wholesome cooking. Perfect as a breakfast flatbread, snack, or side dish.
Instructions
- Peel and grate the green plantains.
- Add chickpea flour, rice flour, ground flaxseed, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili flakes to the grated plantains.
- Add water slowly and mix well to form a thick, smooth dough — not a flowy batter.
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan on medium-low heat.
- Add a portion of the mixture to the pan and shape it into a round flatbread using a spoon or hands.
- Sprinkle black sesame seeds on top (optional).
- Cook for 3-4 minutes per side on medium-low heat. Flip twice if needed.
- Finish with 1 minute on high heat for extra crispiness.
- Remove the flatbread and enjoy. Repeat for remaining dough.
