Perfect Stovetop Popcorn
🏠 Cuisine: American 🍽️ Course: Snack 👥 Servings: 4
Learn how to make perfect, fluffy popcorn on the stovetop after a viral air fryer hack attempt failed. This classic method ensures every kernel pops for a delicious, easy snack.
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients: popcorn kernels, oil, and salt. Choose a large, heavy-bottomed pot (at least 4-quart capacity) with a lid.
- Heat the oil in the pot over medium-high heat. Add 2-3 popcorn kernels to the pot and cover with the lid.
- Carefully transfer the popped popcorn to a large bowl. Season immediately with salt to taste, tossing to distribute evenly.
- Once the test kernels pop, remove them from the pot. This indicates the oil is at the correct temperature for popping.
- Add the remaining 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels to the hot oil in an even layer. Cover the pot with the lid, slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.
- Gently shake the pot occasionally to prevent burning and ensure even popping. Continue cooking until the popping slows down to several seconds between pops.
- Remove the pot from the heat once popping has almost stopped. Let it sit for a minute or two, as residual heat may cause a few more kernels to pop.
